Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris (born October 20 1964) was an American lawyer, politician and vice president of United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female vice presidency and the highest-ranking female politician in U.S history. She is a part of the Democratic Party and was previously the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017. In addition she was a United States senator representing California between 2017-2021. Harris was born in Oakland and attended Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Harris began her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. She was then recruited to join the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was elected the city's district attorney. In 2010, she was elected Attorney General of California and re-elected in 2014. Harris was the junior member of the United States Senate from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez to become the first African American woman senator and the first South Asian American ever to be elected to the United States Senate. As a senator, Harris advocated for health care, federal de-scheduling and the legalization of cannabis, a path to citizenship of undocumented immigrants, and the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. The sharp questions she asked Trump officials during Senate hearings has garnered her national attention, including the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh who was indicted with sexual assault.
